The Big Day I'll Never Forget

There are always different things that stick out in my mind as memorable events in my life, but few will ever compare to the birth of our first child. He was what we had prayed and hoped for over the previous years. It was finally happening. I was going to me a mom. We found out the day before his arrival that Thursday would be the day. I did what you do when you find out your life will never be the same.......cleaned house, folded clothes, got my hair done, sorted out my life and became a little anxious. That day was exhilirating, nerve racking, exhausting, joyous, surreal and so much more all wrapped up into one. I can still picture the room we were in and where everyone was standing when we heard him cry and laid eyes on him for the first time.

I am not sure what all the reasons are for God giving us our only boy six years ago today, but I know there are many and most probably have nothing to do with me. Oh to be sure, God has molded me and shaped me through the little life that was such an easy baby and is now an active and confident six year old. There is so much more to his life, though. God allowed Toads to take his first breath at 10:08 am on Febraury 26th, 2004 and with every breath he testifies to the glory of the One True God, the Creator and Sustainer of life.

I know there will be countless more exhilirating, nerve racking, exhausting, joyous, and surreal days ahead as we train and watch our little boy grow up. I am looking forward to watching them unfold into memorable events as this boy becomes a man.

One of my prayers for him as he walks the journey of life:
That Toads does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But Toad's delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law Toads meditates day and night. That Toads is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever Toads does prospers.
Psalm 1:1-3

Happy Birthday Toads!
I love you.

At This Moment

Six years ago today at this very moment, I was vacuuming. From that moment on everytime I vacuumed, it would be as a mother. We welcomed our first born, affectionately called Toads, the next day. So many things have changed since that day. As I think of another Houston mom who is today holding her precious two year old as she slips away into the hands of her Creator, I am so grateful for the joy of motherhood that is such a big part of who I am today. My journey as mom has been marked by growth, joy, questions, love, some 'ugggghhhhhh' moments, but not despair like some parents face today. I treasure the bond I have with my children and can only pray that I am faithful to the repsonsbiblity I have to the Lord God as their mother.

The Love of Sisters

These two just love each other to pieces. They play hard, they fuss some, they protect and they just have plain old fun together. There are priceless moments and there are disastrous moments. I don't have sisters so I don't fully 'get it', but I sure hope their love for each other grows throughout the years. They are both such a blessing to me and a joy to have as vital parts of our family. Love you girls!

There's No Place Like Home

I am so glad to be home! There is just nothing like your own bed and the many other amenities of home. Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful I was able to be away with our extended family but being home is a good thing. The girls and I drove over 1100 miles in the last seven days and we are exhausted. They travelled so well, but the adjustment to home is taking a bit of patience on my part. Everyone is still a bit cranky and adapting to normal routines. There are so many things about the past week that I intend to write about but for now I must focus on getting us all back in the swing of 'Lino things'. Thank you to everyone who prayed for our travels and time with the family as we celebrated the life of my Grandmommie.
